Virus and Spyware removal is a tricky and daunting business. At thePCdoctor Computer Service, I don’t believe there is really any Virus or Spyware threat that cannot be removed. The questions become: How do I remove this, and with what tool?
There are an ample supply of Antivirus and Spyware removal tools on the Internet. In addition to basic tools, many company offer Antivirus and Internet Security Suites, but the underlying problem is A Virus Got Into your Computer - so now what do you do?
thePCdoctor does not believe that one single product can possibly deal with all the different Viruses, Spyware and Malware threats that complicate out lives. Having that being said, I list a few products on this page that may be useful as a Security Gate to prevent viruses from infecting your system.
Kaspersky is one of the best and leanest Anti-Viral programs available. Low cost and brutally mean. This is my choice for Anti Virus protection. I have yet to see anything get past this product.
Panda has been making a lot of in-roads to reliable and low cost anti-viral protection. There are a lot of good things to say about Panda, however, in my experience, many of the features (such as license verification) can cause spurious errors. This product has a few weaknesses, however it is a solid and reliable product.
McAfee has long since been the home user choice for Anti Viral protection. It’s relatively in-expensive and robust. In my opinion, it has far too many features for the average lay-person. Yet, it is extremely reliable and solid.
AVG has been around since the Windows 98 days. It is a low cost, yet reliable product.
Personally, I’ve nothing against this product, I just happen to feel that there are better ones available. Some features are difficult to configure and use, however this is a solid product.
These are not all the Antivirus, Spyware and Parasite removal solutions. It should be noted that I do not endorse any product in particular nor is the order of presentation representative of any bias.

AVG - Internet Security
So what to do when/if you get a virus. The first thing to keep in mind is that running a virus scan on an infected system is just not the right thing to do. Your computer is infected and who is to say that your Antivirus program is not compromised?
In fact, many Virus and Spyware threats tend to attack the Security Agent (program component) that you use. Many Antivirus Programs use the same program name and service names. Pretty easy target!
The first step is to call thePCdoctor at (403) 835-8996.
The next thing to do (if possible) limit the use of the system. Particularly if the system is network connected. Many viruses will traverse a network and infect other system.
In order to effectively remove these threats, you need to be able to restart from a clean and un-infected system.
ThePCdoctor has many tools available that allow me to do just this. I call it Remote Virus Scanning.
Additionally, thePCdoctor has a variety of tools that are used to irradiate viruses. ONE TOOL IS NOT ENOUGH!!!
